Product Classification

Astricade is an outdoor consumer mosquito trap that uses solar-powered UV light and a sugar-and-yeast bait fermentation to attract and capture mosquitoes by drowning. It is not a pesticide, insecticide, or biocide product as defined under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). It does not contain registered pesticide active ingredients. The bait used in the trap is composed of household pantry ingredients (sugar, yeast, water) that produce carbon dioxide through natural fermentation.

Astricade is not registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is not represented as an EPA-approved or EPA-registered product. We do not claim that Astricade kills, eradicates, or eliminates mosquitoes. We describe what the product actually does: it reduces local mosquito populations by drawing female mosquitoes into the trap, where they become trapped in water.

Results Disclaimer

Individual results vary and are not guaranteed. The effectiveness of any mosquito trap depends on factors including local mosquito species, breeding ground proximity, yard size and layout, trap placement, bait freshness, seasonal conditions, weather, and the surrounding ecosystem.

Most users report noticeable reductions in mosquito activity within 2 to 4 weeks of correct placement and consistent bait refreshing. Reductions are not equivalent to elimination. Mosquitoes will continue to exist in your environment, and some bites may still occur. Safety Warnings

Astricade is designed for outdoor residential use only.

Do not:

- Use the trap indoors or in enclosed unventilated spaces
- Place the trap within reach of small children or pets that may attempt to drink from it
- Open or consume the bait liquid — while the ingredients are food-grade, the fermented mixture is not intended for consumption and may contain insect remains
- Submerge the trap in water, place it in a swimming pool, or expose it to extreme weather including hurricanes, severe storms, or flooding
- Disassemble, modify, or repair the trap — there are no user-serviceable parts inside the solar unit
- Stare directly at the UV light when activated
- Use the trap if any component is visibly damaged, cracked, or malfunctioning

Pet and Wildlife Considerations

The bait used in the trap is non-toxic to pets and wildlife at the small volumes contained in the trap. However, the trap itself is not designed as a pet toy or wildlife feeder. Hang the trap at least 6 feet off the ground and away from areas where pets or curious wildlife may attempt to access it. The trap may incidentally capture small flying insects other than mosquitoes, including some beneficial pollinators. Astricade is designed to minimize bycatch through the use of CO2-based attraction rather than light-only attraction, but no outdoor trap can fully exclude non-target species.

Placement and Use

For optimal performance, place the trap in shaded outdoor areas approximately 20 to 40 feet from where you spend time outdoors, away from competing CO2 sources and air currents. Refresh the bait approximately every 30 days, or sooner in hot or humid climates. Empty and clean the trap when full. Detailed placement and maintenance instructions are provided with each unit.
